The Trades organization you affiliate with is capable of providing a consistent workforce that is reliable, well-trained and scalable. The hiring system is simple; just request the workers you need, for as long as you need them. In the event you are bidding work away from your home area, you have the advantage of being able hire workers in that area. This benefit allows you the ability to expand your business to other areas with the assurance a qualified workforce is accessible.

Do the trades have apprenticeship programs and who pays for them?

Certified Apprenticeship training: Our federally approved apprenticeship programs provide the entry level workers the necessary training to ensure quality craftsmen for the future. Each trade organization works together with their contractor affiliates to create state-of-the-art training in all areas of the building construction industry. These programs are self funded by trades members and their employers.

What fees are involved to become a member of the “Trades’ Team”?

No cost to join the team: There are no fees involved to take advantage of a relationship with the Building Trades. As an employer of building tradesmen you agree to a contract, the terms of which are the result of negotiations between the trade organization and their employers. These contracts are carefully thought out to provide profitable and competitive opportunities for contractors and their employees. In addition, there may be an opportunity for you to establish a professional affiliation with a nationwide contractor organization.

How are benefits administered?

No hassle benefits administration: All paperwork associated with pension plans and health care insurance is part of the normal payroll report. Relieving you of the hassle of dealing with third parties and allowing you more time to run your business. There are no additional costs to establish and maintain benefits for your employees. These same benefits can also be available to you or your office staff personnel.

Is there training available to me and my employees?

Continuing professional training and education: An educated work force is just one of the ways we can help you succeed. No-cost training classes, offered through the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committees, are open to any contractor or employee. In addition to craft specific courses, first aid and safety related classes are also available.
